PALX is yet another cross assembler for the PDP-8/IM6100/HM6120 written in portable C and which runs on (at very least) MSDOS, VMS and Un*x. Output from PALX is a paper tape image in standard PDP-8 BIN loader format. The source syntax for PALX would be familiar to anyone acquainted with the PDP-8, but it is not completely compatible with PAL8, MACREL, PAL III or any of the native -8 assemblers. I come from a long history of DECsystem-10 and PDP-11 programming, and I wanted an assembler for the -8 that had more of the flavor of MACRO-10, with a few of the cooler features of MACRO-11 thrown in. The ROM firmware for the SBC6120 is written entirely in PALX.
